The Classic Italian Basil has the most popular variety with a strong scent. Use in pasta sauces and salads, especially with tomato. Combines well with garlic.
INDOORS - Sow in soilless compost in trays or small pots from April. Cover with glass and maintain at 25oC until germination takes place. Prick off into small pots when large enough to handle and reduce temperature to 20oC. May be planted outside but not before mid-June.

OUTDOORS - Sow outside after mid-June. (Outside sowing is not advised in the North). Grow in a rich soil and water at midday when hot to allow the soii to dry before the evening.
